TRIPOLI, Lebanon: The Lebanese Army opened fire Monday at a car that allegedly failed to heed orders to stop at a military checkpoint in north Lebanon.
A source told The Daily Star that a speeding Skoda Rapid car passed an army checkpoint without stopping in the northern district of Minyeh, which prompted soldiers manning the checkpoint to open fire at the vehicle, but failed to hit their target.
An army unit is pursuing the car in an attempt to arrest the driver.
